Dear Colleagues,
In reviewing copies of the contracts issued to PTLs for the Spring 2026 semester, we have identified two cases thus far where the compensation being offered was less than minimum provided for by the current CBA and associated MOAs.
We strongly encourage all PTLs (including Benefited PTLs), full-time faculty doing overload teaching for ad comp and ESU members with teaching assignments for ad comp to review their appointment letter and/or payroll records to confirm that they are being compensated at the correct rate.
For PTLs, the minimum stipend depends on the number of semester taught and are as follows:
| beginning with the 3rd consecutive semester: | $1,616 per unit | ($4,848 for a 3-unit course) |
| for semesters 4 of 4 through 9 of 10: | $1,838 per unit | ($5,514 for a 3-unit course) |
| for semester 10 out of 11 or greater: | $2,095 per unit | ($6,285 for a 3-unit course) |
Full-time faculty and ESU with overload teaching should be paid at the highest PTL rate of $2,095 per unit ($6,285 for a 3-unit course).
If you find that you are not being compensated at the correct rate, you should contact HR to have the error in your compensation corrected. Any questions regarding your compensation or number of semesters taught should also be directed to HR.
Please inform Grant and Stacey in the Federation Office so that we can track how often this is happening
In Solidarity!
