Our coalition partners on the “Higher Ed for All” campaign have secured four buses to take people to the Cherish Act Hearing at the State House in Boston on Monday, September 18! The buses will be departing from UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth & Bridgewater State University and Salem State University & Bunker Hill Community College in the morning and returning after the hearing is finished. The link below will take you to the Cherish Act Hearing page where you can sign up for the bus and find other links with additional information.
One of the most effective ways to convince legislators of the importance of a bill that comes before them and to get them to vote in favor of it is hearing from their constituents. Testimony from the people directly impacted by the proposed legislation, given in person at hearings like the one on Monday or written and forwarded to the legislators is the most impactful and is a powerful way to show how important it is. I hope that, if your schedule permits, that you will join with me and other public higher education workers from across the Commonwealth at the State House on Monday, either to speak at the hearing or to be in the audience showing your support for the Cherish Act.
If you are unable to travel to the State House, please join us at the Watch Party in the Library Living Room. This will start at 9:45 am and run until around 2:00 pm. Please use the link below to sign up for this event as we are having refreshments.
